چکیده

Teff straw, a by-product of Teff, mainly available in Ethiopia, has not been studied much for biosorbent production. The present study investigated the effects modification and optimization process parameters (viz., concentration modifying agent (H3PO4 KOH), temperature, time) on Cr (VI) removal efficiency using chemically activated straw by RSM followed BBD. maximum was obtained an H3PO4-modified 92.5% with 2 M agent, 110°C, 4 h. Similarly, KOH-modified 95.2% 1.5 activating concentration, 105°C activation 3.5 h time. In addition, adsorption dosage, initial (VI), contact were investigated. attained at g contact, 75 mg/L 25°C sorption temperature. isotherm, kinetic, thermodynamic studies biosorption studied. experimental data well fitted Langmuir isotherm pseudo-second-order kinetic model higher correlation coefficient both untreated modified biosorbent. ( Δ H o , id="M2"> S id="M3"> G ) confirmed that metal ions’ onto spontaneous endothermic.

Evaluation of Cr (VI) ion removal from aqueous solution by bio-inspired chitosan-clay composite: Kinetics and isotherms

This paper reports the evaluation of adsorbing Cr (VI) ions on sorbent prepared from chitosan (CHT), a versatile derivative of chitin, and dodecyl amine modified locally available kaolinite clay (Bijoypur clay) (MC) that has excellent mechanical properties and great resistance to chemical and biological attack. The effect of the initial metal ion concentration, solution pH, contact time, and ad...

Removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solution using canola biomass: Isotherms and kinetics studies

The removing of hexavalent chromium from wastewater or decreasing its chromium (VI) content up to the permitted levels is important due to its non-biodegradation, bioaccumulation, and cancer-causing and toxic effects. In the present study, biosorption of Cr (VI) from aqueous solutions using canola was investigated. The various physicochemical parameters such as pH, initial Cr (VI) ion concentra...

Application of Copper Vanadate Nanoparticles for Removal of Methylene Blue from Aqueous Solution: Kinetics, Equilibrium, and Thermodynamic Studies

Copper vanadate nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple coprecipitation method in an aqueous medium and the products were used as adsorbents for eliminating methylene blue (MB) from water. The structure and morphology of the produced nanoparticles were evaluated through X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) analysis. The results...

Adsorptive Removal of Cr(VI) and Cu(II) Ions from Water Solution using Graphene Oxide-Manganese Ferrite (GMF) Nanomaterials

Chromium (Cr) and copper (Cu) are heavy metals known for their dangerous effect towards human health and could enter into human body mainly through ingestion. Over the years, different treatment methods have been used to eliminate heavy metal from raw water source and these include (co)precipitation, coagulation/flocculation, adsorption and ion- exchange. Nonetheless, adsorption is the most pro...
